Web Reference: Chaney is known for his starring roles in such silent horror films as The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923) and The Phantom of the Opera (1925). His ability to transform himself using makeup techniques that he developed earned him the nickname "The Man of a Thousand Faces." The following list represents all films known to feature Lon Chaney. This page will probably always be under construction, but my goal is to eventually have a link to every film that includes cast, credits, synopsis, reviews, commentary and a still from the film. Due to his special make-up effects he carried the characterization to be "the man with the thousand faces." He only filmed one movie with sound: The remake of one of his earlier films The Unholy Three (1930). His son, Lon Chaney Jr., became a famous actor of the horror genre.
